There are a number of Viggo-associated films at TIFF this year:

World Premiere & 2 showings of “Appaloosa”

World Premiere & 3 showings of “Good”

Mavericks — Howard Zinn’s “The People Speak” (a conversation with filmmakers plus a few clips only, not a full screening)

Viggo’s going to be a busy lad with all these promotions. Well worth a trip to Toronto this year!

There have already been a lot of Google Alerts for these films, and I won’t post them all here. Trailers are up for both Good and Appaloosa, and the official Appaloosa film site is active too.

Not only that, there’s this little piece, which says it all really:
Tuxedo Time for Viggo?

Okay, he’s not Viggo, but he has pretty eyes…and it *is* Aragorn…but it’s not. From TOR.n:

If you haven’t heard of it yet, you will want to check out the non-profit collaborative short film being produced by writer/director Chris Bouchard - The Hunt for Gollum. Like the name suggests, this short film is a prequel to The Lord Of The Rings, set in Middle Earth and depicts events leading up to the Fellowship of the Ring. The story follows the Heir of Isildur as he sets out to find the creature Gollum. Mr. Bouchard has just released the second trailer for the film which you can checkout at their official website or at YouTube. The film will be released as a FREE download in December 2008. MSN Movies

Viggo Mortensen: The first time we really noticed Viggo Mortensen on-screen was in “Lord of the Rings,” where he played Aragorn, leader of the humans, lover of elves, loather of bathing.

Even when he sang that corny song during one of the many endings of the third movie, we … morestill loved his dirty, dirty hair. We naturally decided to rent some of his other movies, starting with “A Walk on the Moon,” which came shortly before “LOTR.”

Big mistake.

In it, he plays a blouse salesman. This should, perhaps, have been a clue that all would not be right with Middle Earth. And even though his character would go on to seduce Diane Lane (who apparently likes playing the straying housewife — see Olivier Martinez), his look was as disappointing as the time we once bit into a raspberry muffin and discovered those pink spots were not, in fact, berries and were instead bacon chunks. Barf.

Yes, he had some righteous sideburns in “Moon.” But where was the funk? Completely missing. Rumor has it that he’s good and grimy in the adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road.” We can’t wait to find out.

Now, you have to ask yourself if the authour reeeeeeeally watched A Walk on the Moon all the way through, because you know, I love Aragorn and all but let’s face it, the dirty Ranger has got nothing on a clean Walker in a waterfall. *ahem*
