The last leaf flutters slowly on the air
A downward spiral
Through a haze not entirely weather induced,
I watch
and wonder
Does the leaf know what awaits it
when it hits the ground?
Will it be sad?
Did it hope to go UP?
Or even sideways instead?
Does it worry where it will land?
Or does it just
enjoy the ride?
